After four vaccinations and three years, it finally caught up to me… I managed to contract COVID. I knew I could not avoid it forever, so I’m grateful that it did hit me now where the variant is much weaker than it was in the early days. There is a positive that came out of it though. These last few days isolating at home gave me the time and excuse I needed to start this new photography blog; something I’ve been wanting to get going for months.
I’ve been interested in photography on and off for at least 20 years, but don’t have much to show for it. I took a long break in there… probably a 5-to-10 years where I would rarely go out a shoot. In the last couple of years, probably since COVID, I regained that passion and I started to get back out there. I have become much more interested in the street-and-documentary style. I really struggle with it, in that I find it near impossible to really know how to find and successfully capture those life moments.
Here are a a few shots from Kensington, where I like to frequent for both coffee and photography. When I moved to Calgary in the 90’s, I lived on the corner of Kensington & 10th, and always like going back to The Roasterie and The Higher Ground for an Americano.
